Frequently Asked Questions for Fall Event at Camp Horizon

Q: How much cropping space will I have at Crop Camp?
A: Each person has about 3 to 4 feet of cropping space. Most tables are rectangle, however some facilities do not have enough rectangle tables to accomodate us, therefore we use their large round tables.

Q: How are the sleeping arrangements at Camp Horizon?
A: Most sleeping quarters are bunk style. Some however are a few double beds at Camp Horizon. The rooms vary on the total number of bunk beds at each camp. These rooms are assigned according to the number of people in your group. For example, if we have a group of 5 and a group of 4, those 2 groups would share a bunk room. We have a few more private rooms which are closer to the cropping and dining rooms. Our vendors and croppers that have a physical limitation are given those rooms first since they are closer to the other facilities. You can see more about Camp Horizon on their website at http://www.horizoncenter.org

Q: Do I need to bring my own bedding?
A: Yes. Most of the bunking rooms do not have any bedding provided by the camp. If you bring fitted sheets, the bunk beds are a size twin. If your bedding will be provided by the camp, you will get an email a week before camp to let you know that.

Q: Is there access to ice machine, refrigerator, and microwave?
A: Yes. There are all 3 of these available in the crop room.

Q: Are snacks provided during Crop Camp?
A: Not usually, please feel free to bring your favorite snack for yourself and/or to share with the building. Generally there is coffee available and of course water (not bottled). We try to provide a location for everyone to put their snacks to avoid them being at your work space.

Q: Is there music in the crop rooms?
A: Sometimes. The music seems to come and go with the mood of the building. You may wish to bring your electronic device and head/ear phones. If playing your music out loud, please be respectful of those around you.

Q: How is the lighting at camp?
A: The lighting in the crop room is very high up in the ceiling. Feel free to bring your own lamp with you if you want to.

Q: What is the crop room temperature?
A: The room temperature will depend on the outside temperature. Believe it or not, we have ran the A/C at camp horizon before. Most of the time, the temperature will be comfortable. You should bring a jacket and short sleeved shirts in case you need them.

Q: Is there a place for me to plug in my electronics? Like my personal cutter and/or laptop.
A: Yes. There will be extension cords available for you to use at your crop space. We have a limited supply and bringing your own is always a good idea.

Q: Are there bugs at camp?
A: Yes, there are bugs at camp. We are cropping in the wilderness after all. The camp hosts have been very good about spraying for bugs closer to our event which has helped a lot.

Q: Can we leave our scrapbook stuff out for the whole time I’m at camp?
A: Yes. Some people bring a sheet to cover their scrapbook area when they go to bed. Crop Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of customers that attend our events, and can say we have never had any complaints of missing items.

Q: Is there shopping nearby?
A: Yes. Ark City is only 15 minutes from camp. There is a Wal-Mart and a small scrapbook store D & S Scrapbooks in town. There are also lots of local shops you should check out on Summit Street if you go to town. Stillwater, OK is loaded with a lot of fun shopping and exciting dining experiences. The hotel has info on all of the local flavor and Hobby Lobby is just across the street.

Q: Do you have vendors at camp?
A: Yes, at our fall event. We will have a list of vendors on our web site about a month before fall camp. There will be a link to their web page if they have one and their email address if they have one. There are no vendors for our spring event as we are limited on space and want our croppers to have as much cropping space as possible. Hobby lobby is within walking distance however.

Q: Is there wireless internet access at camp?
A: Yes. Camp Horizon is working on getting wifi in the Sanctuary. As of now, they have it available near the office. The hotel in Stillwater also has wifi available, however it is not reliable in the crop room 100% of the time.
